Everyone that represents Texas A&M embodies Aggie Spirit, but few displayed it on the field the way the Wrecking Crew did. While the Aggies had long been known for stout defense through the years, the 1985 through 1987 teams showed opposing offenses no mercy. R.C. Slocum and the coaching staff started both publicly and privately referring to the unit as the Wrecking Crew. Just like the A&M defense bulldozed through opponents, the nickname stormed into Aggie fan consciousness.
